Chicago Sold harvests data from multiple sources, and brings it together into one cohesive package where you can view it in one place. The tool was created when I was looking at houses for sale, and I wanted to make sure I had all the data available in order to make informed decisions about properties and whether or not to make an offer as well as how much to offer.

Map View

The heat map is the visual welcome to the tool. It provides the user a quick visual of what is going on across a handful of major categories common in real estate. The user can dynamically scroll in and out, with varying level of detail becoming available once you scroll past a certain point. Additionally, as you scroll in, the neighborhoods get split into subplots for their own heat map.

The Ledger

Every sale and listing event all in one table. A user can filter by status, and see plenty of information at a quick glance. There are also a handful of other filters such as property type, where it is located, and how many bedrooms it has.

Watchlist Feature

Ever wonder what happened to that beautiful new listing that popped up in your email inbox but never wanted to put in the effort to track it? The watchlist allows a user to star a property, which then adds it to a dedicated tab. This dedicated tab tracks all relevant information for that property, such as how long it's been in its current status and how much it eventually sells for. Adding a property to the watchlist also makes it appear as a gold dot on the map view.

Detailed Information

Any row opens in place, giving the user detailed information about the property. This detailed information combines five columns from four different sources in order to serve it all in one place. The pane also shows the entire history of a property including asking price and any price cuts.

Visualizing Trends

This section works in conjunction with our point-in-time map views in order to visualize what is happening in the real estate market over time. All of the same key metrics are tracked and shown in a time-series view.
